When Words Hit Hard: How to Make a Cold Audience Stop the Scroll
Apr 14, 2026Gen X and Boomer women stepping into entrepreneurship don’t need more polished content.
They need words that hit hard.
Not polite drivel.
This is what happens when you stop performing and show up on screen strong, authentic, and without apology.
If you’re a Gen X or Boomer woman stepping into entrepreneurship… it’s your season.
I knew my last blog article, "I Quit" posted on LinkedIn would land.
Over 18,000 of you didn’t just scroll past it. The words were a mirror into your soul.
Because this isn’t theory for me. It’s my story too.
It changed the trajectory of my career.
I walked away from a corporate identity for something that came from my soul.
This is the emancipation you envisioned and designed.
Not something you fell into. Not something you’re trying to figure out.
You chose this. We chose this.
And whatever you need to support that transition, you have here.
You can be confident in your next steps.
I know a place where you’ll find community with other women walking the walk.
I know that moment when “I quit” isn’t impulsive… it’s been building quietly for years.
For accomplished women, it’s not an escape hatch.
It’s an exit strategy with precision. A winning transition with next steps already in motion.
Maybe you’re already mid flight and you just need a tailwind.
Let’s break this down.
That post didn’t land because I suddenly figured out social media.
It landed because I knew you would get it.
Not because it was polished. Not because it followed some preconceived notion of rules for how to get noticed.
Because it was raw. Because it was real.
No shame. Nothing to atone for.
A direct hit to your psyche.
And that’s the part most people avoid.
This is the truthbomb you’ve been waiting for:
Most content isn’t failing because it’s bad.
It’s failing because it’s safe.
You’re editing yourself before you even hit publish. You’re choosing words that won’t offend instead of words that will land. You’re trying to sound credible instead of sounding real.
And the result? Meh.
Those words don’t carry the message.
Because women like us, women who’ve built careers, led teams, sat in rooms where decisions were made, we don’t respond to patriarchal status quo B.S.
We’ve had enough of that.
We respond to recognition.
That “I Quit” post didn’t teach anything.
It didn’t position me as an expert. It didn’t try to convert anyone.
It named something.
“Ugh. This isn’t the life I imagined for myself. And I don’t want it anymore.”
That’s not a tactic.
That’s a truth.
And when you say something like that clearly, directly, without dressing it up, you feel it immediately.
And let’s talk about what most people misunderstand about visibility.
Just because you didn’t see a flood of comments doesn’t mean it didn’t land.
This audience doesn’t perform their life in public.
They read. They think. They watch.
And when something resonates, they remember who said it.
So no, this wasn’t luck.
This was what happens when experience, timing, and the right message meet at the same time.
Now if you’re sitting there wondering why your content isn’t landing the same way, I’ll say it straight:
You’re holding back.
Not because you don’t know what to say.
But because you’re not sure how it will be received.
So you soften it. You generalize it. You turn it into something “valuable.”
And it disappears into the scroll with everything else.
Say the thing anyway.
That’s where this starts to work.
I’m not here to play the algorithm.
I’m not here to blend in.
And I’m definitely not here to water this down so it feels comfortable.
I’ve spent too many years building experience, staying quiet, figuring it out the hard way to come online now and say something halfway.
I am you.

About Innovate LAUNCH and the VIP Community
I’m not here to teach you how to “show up” online.
You already know how to lead.
What I do is show you how to take everything you’ve built and make it land in a completely different arena… where no one knows you yet.
Where your experience doesn’t speak for itself.
Where your words have to carry the weight.
That’s the shift.
And you don’t navigate it in isolation.
You’re surrounded by women who are in it with you… not watching… building.
If we haven't met yet, I'm Suzette Cotto, Founder of Innovate LAUNCH and the LAUNCH VIP Community and I'm glad you're here!
I see you, I support you, and I want you to be successful.
The door is open to the Community.
Welcome in!
P.S. This pic is me in my new office. What does yours look like?
